OVERVIEW:

Not just another teen band.

The Sabol brothers, Chris and Jeff, grew up in Granite City, Illinois, a small town located in southern Illinois, just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. As teenagers, the pair picked up guitars, Chris on bass, and Jeff on 6-string. Eventually, they would form their first band called XANTHUS with vocalist/guitarist Bob McCormack, drummer Steve Scarborough, and keyboardist Alan Zentgraf.

In 1987, the band self-released a four-song demo cassette that showcased a group of young men whose musical talents and songwriting abilities were well beyond their years.Within the next couple of years, the band would change its name to SABLE, a play on the brothers' surname Sabol.

SABLE then entered Midiland Studios to record tracks for the band's second effort with engineer Steve Grizzle at the helm. The 9-song demo was released in 1989 and continued in the pomp-rock, adult-oriented radio direction. Two of the songs, "Runaway" and "Take It (Slow and Easy)" would be re-recorded versions of songs that appeared on the XANTHUS demo released a couple of years earlier.
